McDonald’s has done it again…as well as Pepsi
Another marketing ploy by McDonald’s. Claiming their food is made of “quality” ingredients. See the website for yourself:
http://www.mcdonalds.com/qualityfood
I don’t know how this corporation can make such a heinous claim. One example-look at the ingredients of an ice cream sundae:
Vanilla Reduced Fat Ice Cream: Milk, sugar, cream, nonfat milk solids, corn syrup solids, mono- and diglycerides, guar gum, dextrose, sodium citrate, artificial vanilla flavor, sodium phosphate, carrageenan, disodium phosphate, cellulose gum, vitamin A palmitate. CONTAINS: MILK. Strawberry Topping: Strawberries, sugar, water, high fructose corn syrup, natural strawberry flavor with other natural flavors (fruit source), citric acid, pectin, sodium benzoate (preservative), locust bean gum, red 40, calcium chloride.
I don’t know if the creators of this marketing scheme realize that corn syrups solids are not quality ingredients, as well as red 40, high fructose corn syrup, as well as milk solids (short list). Also, “natural strawberry flavor” can mean just about anything. What that means is CHEMICALS. Bleh, this is one big joke.
In the BUN of a McRib sandwich:
McRib Bun
Enriched flour (bleached wheat flour, malted barley flour, niacin, reduced iron, thiamin mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), water, yeast, high fructose corn syrup, contains 2% or less of the following: yellow corn meal, salt, partially hydrogenated soybean and cottonseed oils, canola oil, soybean oil, dextrose, sugar, calcium sulfate, cultured wheat flour, wheat gluten, ammonium sulfate, monocalcium phosphate, ammonium chloride, cellulose gum, diastatic malt, calcium carbonate, soy flour, deactivated dry yeast, dough conditioners (may contain one or more of the following: ascorbic acid, enzymes, sodium stearoyl lactylate, azodicarbonamide, calcium peroxide, guar gum, distilled monoglycerides, DATEM, mono- and diglycerides, ethoxylated mono- and diglycerides, calcium stearoyl lactylate), calcium propionate and sodium propionate (preservatives), soy lecithin. CONTAINS: WHEAT AND SOY
Why so many ingredients?? What on earth is AZODICARBONAMIDE? I don’t know, but I don’t want it near my body. Okay, I just looked it up. The definition is as follows:
Azodicarbonamide, or azobisformamide, is an organic chemical, C2H4O2N4. It is a yellow to orange red, odorless, crystalline powder. It is known as E number E927.
It is used in food industry as a food additive, a flour bleaching agent and improving agent.
I still don’t want it near my body. I don’t think I need to go on. This is one huge joke, and another way this fast-food company lures in new customers. Shame on McDonald’s. They are outright LYING.
This weekend, I saw a commercial for a new Pepsi product. Are you ready for this one? Pepsi with EXTRA CAFFEINE! The commercials tag line was “WAKE UP PEOPLE!”, or something of that nature. The commercial was pathetic-half dead people walking around the office, and after they drink the Pepsi, they are bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready to get back to work.
I hope this product fails. Pepsi’s goal-let’s add more caffeine to our product, so people can become further dependent and further addicted, and so we can make more $$$$$$$. Let’s deplete the adrenal and nervous systems of our consumers, so they feel horrible without our product, thus requiring the need for more of our product, producing a lifelong dependency. Hmmmm…no thanks.
I apologize if I sound angry in this blog, but to tell you the truth, I AM! I am sick of being lied to, and I am sick of seeing people fall for these claims. I want to reclaim the health of our nation. I want people to live long and healthy lives, and not worry about whether or not their water is infested with prescription pills or if their food has the salmonella virus, or if the meat they are eating contains hormones and antibiotics and who knows what else.
I hope that one day that clean and healthful food won’t cost an arm and a leg, and that everyone will be able to afford the food that they were meant to eat. A big dream, maybe, but not impossible.
Until next time-keep your eyes open!
Coming soon-star client! :o)
