Book recommendation

December 15, 2008

Hello Everybody!

I just finished an amazing book called “You are what you eat” by Dr. Gillian McKeith. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in improving health through natural sources such as food and supplements.

I love this book! The author talks about her previous struggle with poor eating habits until she discovered the impact that diet would have on her well-being and health. The book covers various topics such as why diets don’t work, foods we should be eating on a regular basis, bad foods, food rotation, body signs (health assessment and what to do/eat/supplement with to fix the problem-this is my favorite section), detoxing, exercise, juicing, skin and body care, superfoods, sprouting, meal planning, etc. etc!

I am constantly trying to learn as much as I can about improving the state of health and wellness through nutrition and a better lifestyle. I feel that they both go hand in hand.

For example, if you are eating great but you are getting 5 hours of a sleep a night and are stressed out all the time, you won’t feel or function at your best. I know that in this crazy, fast paced world, balance is very difficult, but we all can do small things, one step at a time, to improve how we look and feel.

I loved the last paragraph of this book-here it is:

“Finally, this is my deepest secret to achieving great health and a fantastic life. Yes, you are what you eat. But just as integral is that you are what you love. After many years of biochemical study, molecular research, clinical practice and living life, I have discovered that the most powerful energetic influence for good health is the energy force of love. Love is the strongest driving force for the body’s energetic balance, healing process, disease prevention, cellular rejuvenation, organ vitality, blood cleansing, molecular revitalization and vibrational freedom. So just remember to love yourself, your body and the people in your life, especially the stranger a yonder and a hug for your loved ones too.”

What a great quote!

If you want to take a look at the book, ask me for my copy! đŸ˜€

With love,
Jeannette

This sounds like an interesting read. Does it have any new ideas for menu planning? Working nearly 40hrs and having twins means that preparation is the only path for me!

Hey Great Book, I’ve read that one. There is a wealth of information in there with lots of tips.
It’s so important to understand that our body is a representation of what we feed it and how we treat it.
There is another saying of “You are no longer what you eat, You are what you eat and digest”.
This was stated in another book that was based around all of the digestion issues that are currently out of control with most people.
My take is that you want to insure that you are giving your digestive system everything that it needs to stay healthy and in balance so you actually can utilize the food you just ate.
Things like Fiber, Digestive Enzymes, Probiotics and Essential Fatty Acids are necessary for proper Digestive Function.

I haven’t read the book but I appreciate you posting the quote. I agree, love is the greatest driving force and it starts with loving yourself. Maybe you are what you eat but you are also what you think. Thanks!
