A few favorite quotes & life rules

November 12, 2007

To switch things up a bit, I thought I’d pass along a few of my favorite quotes. Some you may find inspirational, some you may not. Either way, here are a few. I’ll add other favorites from time to time:

“MOST ILLNESS STARTS WITH A NEGATIVE MIND”. It’s been proven again and again. Hypochondriacs, people who are convinced that they are sick even though nothing is wrong with them, experience the same exact symptoms of the actual disease. For them, the illness is just as real as if their bodies were ravaged by disease. It is also possible to make yourself ill through constant worry and fear of failure, because the mind constantly strives to turn into reality the things we think about most. Protect your mental health with the same care you give your physical body. Just as your body requires healthy, nourishing foods, and a balanced diet, so does your mind. Make sure you feed it plenty of positive thoughts”. –Napoleon Hill Foundation-July 18, 2004

Be brave. Even if you’re not, pretend to be. No one can tell the difference.

Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.

“When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace”. ~Jimi Hendrix

Learn to show cheerfulness, even when you don’t feel like it.

Learn to show enthusiasm, even when you don’t feel like it.

Your outlook on life is a direct reflection of how much you like yourself.

JEALOUSY works the opposite way you want it to.

You get what you think about.

“Your imagination is a preview of life’s coming attractions” ~Albert Einstein

“I’m not here for a picnic” ~Debbie Wells

To keep your attention, I am going to stop there for now. Now, go out and create an amazing day for yourself! :o)

In conclusion

Again, I want to reiterate that I think that no one knows all the answers to the quest for the fountain of youth. There is so much information out there these days, and I think most people are just confused and loaded with too many different theories, ideas, facts, etc. Just keep it simple.

I don’t necessarily think that eating a dessert, having a drink, or having coffee is bad for you, but I do feel that because we have so, so much processed, unnatural food on the market today, our nation’s health is suffering. That is what it really stems downs to.

I want to also state that these are merely my opinions and I choose to live this way. I do not expect others to follow the same path or to agree with what I am saying the majority of the time. Although I do try. 🙂

My story-part 3

November 9, 2007

The end to my diet hell came when I looked in the mirror and something inside of me just clicked and said “YOU HAVE GOT TO STOP ALL OF THIS!”. And I did. That easily

I started eating meat again, I started eating a balanced diet that included a bit of everything-still mainly non-processed and natural, but gone were the days of veganism, Macrobiotics, or any diet that was too extreme for my body type. I gained the weight back within a few months (a few trips to In-n-Out & Coldstone sped up the weight gain process), and I was happier and healthier than I had been in years.

However, my mother was thriving on the diet, down to her normal body weight (dropped about 60 lbs total), and her cancer was not spreading. Her back pain ceased, her energy level soared, and she became the family rock once again.

My story-part 2

We discovered that my mother had MS first because she lost vision in one of her eyes. Before this happened, she was suffering dizzy spells, and just not feeling right. After several doctor’s visits (they misdiagnosed several times), they concluded she had MS. MS? I didn’t know the last thing about MS. A degenerative disease, one which would eventually rob her of her freedom, and according to the doctor, she would have to be medicated for the rest of her life.

It was extremely painful to see my mother with a patch over her eye, and to hear the bleak prognosis of the doctor. I was severely saddened, and living away from home in Chicago certainly didn’t help.

Because my mother did not want to take numerous medications every day, my sister started doing research on the internet for alternative ways to heal disease. She found several websites and came in contact with a few people who had found that their cases of MS had cleared up once they changed their diet and lifestyle.

My story-part 1

November 8, 2007

Hello!

If you have been training with me, you already know that I am an advocate of the holistic lifestyle, and that I can sometimes be…ummm…well…a bit extreme when it comes to the way I live my life. A life without sugar (most of the time :)? Processed food? A microwave? What kind of life is this?

Well, to put it honestly, a life I truly enjoy and find no difficulty adhering to. But I wasn’t always like this-I once enjoyed eating massive amounts of donuts, ice cream, and other treats which I shudder to think about. However, the journey to where I am now has been a long one-a bit rocky at times-but one of truth and self-discovery.

It begins when I discovered my love for running in high school. I joined the track & cross-country teams, and quickly fell in love, and I wanted to do everything in my power to become the best runner that I could.

Well, a 15 year old usually doesn’t know the last thing about proper nutrition, yet I took it upon myself to start eating more healthfully and in better accordance to my new athletic lifestyle. Up until this age, I ate whatever I wanted (my parents used to own a bakery and donut shops), and mass amounts of it-I had a crazy metabolism and could literally eat whatever I wanted.
